Priya Mishra was born and raised in Long Island, New York. Although she’d been an avid writer and artist from a very young age, it was only after she entered college that she realized just how deeply her personality was shaped by Bollywood films.
At Columbia University, Priya studied Economics and Sustainable Development while being very active in DKA, the pre-professional cinematic society on campus. It was through DKA that she first got a taste of how it felt being on set, and she’s been in love ever since. She PA’d or AD’d multiple productions until her senior year, when she had her debut as a director, writer, and producer for her short film, “Bath Bomb”. The story revolves around a queer woman dealing with her grief on her mother’s death anniversary, which was heavily inspired by Priya’s own experiences and emotions after her mother passed away her junior year.
Now, Priya’s continuing to write stories about embracing radical kindness and vulnerability to help heal while living in a world that has very sharp claws. You can find her working on her next screenplay(s), gardening, making art, and telling you in excruciating detail why we should all be worshipping at the altar of the early 2000s sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” on her youtube channel.
